Information from the 1911 census H. Martyn van Lennep was an American musician and arranger, born in Tocat, Turkey, in 1862. He was a widower (he must have remarried by the time of the fund-raising performances at Stockwell Palladium). He lived at 1 Worcester Street, Pimlico, London SW1 with his son and daughter, Marjorie van Lennep, 18, and Kenneth van Lennep, 13 (the children were born in London but had American citizenship). Athie Bailey, a single 24-year-old from Battersea, and Emmeline D'Auvergne, 20, a governess from Jersey, boarded. Two servants lived in, both from Tollesbury, Essex: Alice Green, 20, the cook, and Lily Everett, 17, the housemaid. |
